Little miss Annika turned 9 months old yesterday! We can't believe how old she is and how much she has grown in the past few months! A few highlights:
1) She LOVES to clap to "pat-a-cake" and she loves to make the duck squeak on her favorite book. She also plays the little piano we borrowed from Josh and Sarah pretty well!
2) She has started a variation on a crawl that is really cute! She uses both arms and one leg, with the other placed strategically for support. It's kind of a hybrid crawl-scoot, but it's really cute!
3) She says "dada" and "mama" pretty regularly. She's said "dada" for a long time, but now she says "mama" quite a bit.
4) She loves to eat all kinds of food. She's a great eater--she'll try anything! Her favorite food in the world is probably mashed potatoes, but she loves pretty much everything.
5) Her favorite books are "Little Chick's Day" and "Goodnight Moon"--although she only really likes the full-color pages in that book.
6) She loves to play with Ezra and laugh at everything he does...and he does the same back to her. They're a really great pair!
In other news, we've had some pretty late nights recently (including tonight). For some reason, if Ezra has a nap during the day (which he needs) he will not go to sleep at night until really, really late. Last night it was MIDNIGHT! He just refused to go to sleep. Of course, Annika was asleep in their bedroom so we couldn't just stick him in there and let him cry it out. He tried to be helpful by bringing us books, cups, and other things we didn't really need, so it was actually kind of cute. Ezra often comes up with a laundry-list of things he "needs" when he is supposed to go to bed (cheese, grapes, milk, diaper change, motorcycle, cracker, milk again, stories, etc.).
Tonight is shaping up to be no different...ugh.

Must be the age. Abby is doing the same thing. She will cry and throw a fit when it is time for bed, Erin will put her to bed and tell her to stay in bed and she will empty her drawers, pull her nightlight out, take the drawers out of her dresser, move her bed around and lay on the floor and kick the walls or door until at least midnight.
Good idea, getting Ezra to hold the sign. I'll have to do that next time. I was ready to give up on it for these last pictures. Good luck with bed!
I am so jealous she says Mama! Landon says Daddy all the time but no Mommy! He's 17 months, its killing me!
Enough ranting she is adorable, its so cute to read about what a pair her and her big brother are, makes me exicited to have our own little girl!
Mom- That sounds awful! We're not letting Ezra take a nap today and see if that helps.
Mandy- Thank Ezra, he just came and grabbed the sign! He's somewhat bossy!
Lisa- Our kids are 19 mo. apart. Yours will be 18? Or 19? When is your due date? If you need any advice or want to know what its like, let me know. We've just been through it all!
I am sure it's the age. We only give Luke a nap anymore it he acts like he really needs one. If he seems a bit cranky, but it's between 3 and 5 no way he's getting a nap. I usually try to distract him with something. Good luck.
9 months..thats hard to believe....well she is beautiful and that picture of the two of them with him holding the sign is adorable!
I really had to chuckle at Anika's favorite food being mashed potatoes. She has to be her mom's girl, remember when that was your very most favorite food. It sounds like you are putting in a lot of late nights, just be glad they both are sleeping through the night when he does get to sleep.
Mashed potatoes is still my most favorite food! She does take after her mom, I guess!
